Technical Advantages
Dr. Zhang Yiming states that common scar repair surgeries generally fall into three categories:
1. For smaller scars, scar excision may be considered. By using the elasticity of surrounding normal skin, or special methods (such as tissue expanders or multiple excisions), the skin can be directly pulled together and sutured to remove the scar.
2. When the scar area is too large to be completely excised, dermabrasion or laser treatment may be considered to remove the superficial layer of the scar. After the wound heals with medication, the scar will become less distinct and flatter, thereby reducing the scar.
3. For large-area severe scars, excision and skin grafting are the only options.
